A new term is creeping into our vocabulary, one that encompasses Americans' love for their vehicles and their desire to take advantage of every idle moment that occurs throughout the day. The term is telematics: the ability to provide wireless, built-in computer functionality inside vehicles. Lockheed Martin Successfully Validates ATACMS Missile Long-Term Reliability

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) successfully fired a U.S. Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missile in a recent stockpile verification test at Fort Bliss, TX. The missile was fired from a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launcher.  The test used an ATACMS Unitary variant missile to destroy a target approximately 175 kilometers away. General Dynamics Awarded $10 Million for Submarine Base Support

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $10.25 million contract modification to continue operating the New England Maintenance Manpower Initiative (NEMMI) at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD). Initially awarded in October 2006 , the five-year contract has a potential value of $201.8 million if all options are exercised and funded. U.S. Navy Awards General Dynamics Contract Extension for Production of F/A-18 Gun Systems

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), a $16 million contract extension for the production of M61A2 20mm automatic Gatling gun systems for use on F/A-18 fighter jets. The production work will be performed at General Dynamics' Saco, Maine, facility, with final deliveries scheduled in 2011. The program will be managed out of General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products' Burlington, Vt., facility.
